Welcome to The Requiem
Hello one and all and welcome to The Requiem. My name is Vik Nightfox, and I will be your guide and moderator throughout this explanation of a brand-new IRC-based roleplay. Throughout the years, I have been trying to find the perfect furry roleplay, coming close many times with such roleplays like City of Unity (www.city-of-unity.com) and its predecessor, Vagrant. While these roleplays offer some of the best experiences around, I couldn't help but feel a sort of detatchment to both the storylines and characters, due to the wildly extreme settings that seem to prevail amongst furry roleplays. With heavy influences from science fiction and armageddon-like storylines, many players fall into a role similar to that of a video game: fun to play and expand, but ultimately lacking that connection with their character which basically puts them in their shoes.
Understandably, many people enjoy roleplaying under such circumstances, due to the many story implements that could be twisted into the intricate tapestry which makes it up. Cool weapons, dangerous villains, and flying vehicles may be all fine and dandy, but the realism factor always seems to slip away at the very last second, inevitably leaving behind that detatchment I talked about. But all that is about to change, or so I hope. While this roleplay doesn't take place on our own planet (due to the necessity to allow such things as gene-splicing and cloning, both frowned upon here on Earth), the setting is almost precisely the same, with a few implements changes here and there. But all that will be explained.

Note: Just a thought, but if enough people decide to join, I'm thinking of including other areas of Ithaca as areas of roleplay, to make this a large-scale thing. It will require a few more ops and quite a bit more players, though, so we'll see.
